AWD Adventure Travel Vehicle
The all-wheel drive conversion on the  VW Crafter used in this case for the EX 400 is a fully mechanical permanent 4-wheel drive with 1:2.5 ratio reduction gears and  electromechanical differential locks. The fixed-mounted cabin is kept low and the overcab is used for storage only. This makes the EX 400 a sturdy vehicle not only for adventurous tracks and rough terrain but also comfortable on smooth roads. It also takes steep gradients in its stride, and comes with a great payload. The EX 400 layout has a French style double bed on one side at the rear over a large storage area accessible from the outside and inside. The seating area is situated, conveniently, opposite the kitchen, comfortably seating 4, and can be fitted with seat belts for passengers as well as converting
into a second double bed. The kitchen is fitted with a two-burner hob and a stainless steel sink with two taps, one mixer and one for drinkingquality water from separate tanks, and a
compressor refrigerator. The spacious bathroom, has a separate shower, with wash basin and wc, and is located at the rear of the van over the garage. The vehicle is fitted with
diesel-fired heating, which reduces the consumption of gas to cooking only, and is also fitted with an inverter as standard.
