The Toyota Off-Road Pick-up Camper
The Husky 280 cabin on a Toyota HZJ79 Landcruiser combines all-terrain mobility with comfortable accommodation.

Bimobil is a German high quality manufacturer of pick-up campers with a long tradition. Based in Oberpframmern, a picturesque village to the south of Munich, Bimobil celebrated its 30 year jubilee in 2007. To demonstrate the company's competence in manufacturing off-road capable campers, a completely new model was introduced at the Allrad-Messe (Off-road trade fair) in Kissingen. It features a Husky 280 cabin on a Toyota HZJ79 Landcruiser. This rugged, get-anywhere adventure camper will make its official debut at the Caravan Salon of Düsseldorf (from 28.08. until 06.09.2009).

The base vehicle, the Toyota HZJ79 pick-up, is the culmination of the Toyota Landcruiser success story - a utility vehicle with a proud history of 56 years. The predecessor of this prestigious lineage of rugged, immensly reliable off-road utility vehicles was the BJ series, launched in 1951. In the 1980's, the 70 series succeeded the classic 40 series. Yet despite the added comfort the basic character of these vehicles remains unchanged: the Toyota Landcruiser HZJ79 has all the Toyota DNA for true off-road performance. Its powerful, high-torque 131 HP Diesel delivers ample power with unsurpassed reliability. An agile suspension with rugged leaf springs and the proven, high-strength ladder-frame construction ensure true off-road capability and superb track-holding on the most difficult terrains, while a selectable 4WD and perfect transmission ratios guarantee ultimate traction - on the road as off-road. The dimensions (5.7 m l x 2.12 m w x 2.9 m h) of this 4WD pick-up camper remain quite manageable in everyday traffic, yet provide ample living space for extended safaris in the wild. Thanks to the bimobil quick-mount system you get a very flexible vehicle, offering many possibilities. This system allows quick mounting and dismounting of the cabin to and from the base-vehicle via crank operated rack and pinion supports, requiring very little muscle power. Thus the removed living compartment turns into a temporary holiday cabin, while the vehicle is used, for example, for exploratory trips into the neighbourhood. To use the Landcruiser as a standard pick-up you can choose the optional bimobile deck-change system, which enables replacing the cabin with the original cargo-deck in a few, simple steps. In certain regions this might gain self-employed professionals some tax advantages. The rugged, two-seater base-vehicle is only available via independent importers in Germany. Visually, it clearly displays its BJ series heritage, while offering a distinct advantage: a permissible total gross weight of 3,500 kg! Even with the big Husky 280 cabin, a payload of more than half a ton remains.

The Bimobil Husky 280 camper cabin employs a state-of-the-art sandwich construction and impresses with its ruggedness and strength, also the result of a patented corner joint technique. This technology is a very good example of attention to detail, which is typical of Bimobil and its 30 years of experience in the industry. The bright and cosy interior of the Husky cabin is a winner, too. Its finish and the clean-cut mounting of all technical appliances sets a benchmark in the industry.

The Bimobil Husky 280 cabin is available with two layouts: One features a rear settee and the possibility of a wide tail-gate opening to an unhindered view of the outside world. The alternative is a more discrete layout with the settee in front. In both variants the settee is mounted on a raised platform and consists of two benches facing each other. The advantage is the stowage space beneath, which covers the full cabin width. In this stowage space you will find the water tanks and the integrated technical on-board devices. The remainder offers plenty of stowage space, accessible from the interior and via a flap also from the exterior. By lowering the lift table the settee converts into a bed.

In the case of the front settee layout the settee transforms into an additional double-bed. However, with the settee in the rear, this settee bed is reduced in size to either a single or a double for kids. Both layouts feature a double-bed of 200 x 150 cm in the overhead bay. The standard spring support system and top-quality cold-foam matress ensure the maximum of sleeping comfort. In addition, the sanitary compartment includes everything necessary for extended trips: from a shower pan, a fixed, enamelled sink, to a big mirror, a large shelf and a modern cassette toilet. A roof hatch enables excellent aeration of the cubicle. The kitchen counter is Resopal(R) coated for easy cleaning. The stainless steel cooker/sink combination features a glass cover and a chrome plated tap. Another important feature is a 60 L fridge - either electrically operated by 220 V AC/12 V DC or gas. Two big stowage holds and a cutlery drawer maximise usability. Bimbil also offers a kitchen with a Corean(R) coated counter - this upgrade is called Luminum design. Ample stowage facilities for long trips are provided by a voluminous wardrobe and hanging lockers above kitchen counter and settee, as well as in the overhead bay. The cabin door located on the side towards the rear has an electrically retractable step to ensure easy access.

As its technical equipment proves, the Husky 280 is really geared for travelling off the beaten track. The 12 V electrical system is based on a modern gel battery with charge controller/inverter and 220 V AC connector. To save on battery power the cabin features energy saving lights and halogen spots. A Truma combination system takes care of heating and warm water production. In a separate exterior hold, a frost-proof 60 L freshwater tank and space for 2 x 5 kg gas bottles ensure excellent autonomy on adventure trips.

The comfortable Husky 280 cabin on the new rugged and super reliable Toyota HZJ79 - an unbeatable combination for off-road adventuring in style! Sales price with complete equipment and adapted base vehicle incl. VAT: € 75.954,-
